About My Photography
My grandfather best summarized what makes photography special. He said, “A successful photograph is a powerful stimulus of the memory of experiences and a way to communicate those experiences.” In this statement, my grandfather captured not only what makes photography meaningful to many photographers, but also what makes it meaningful to everyone else. To stimulate memories and share experiences with others is why we take selfies at new places or group photos when together with people we don’t often see. For me, it is why I take photos of the animals, people, places, and things I encounter.
I am an avid photographer of all things, but I have a true passion for birds (and other wildlife). I picked up this passion from my grandfather, an incredible photographer who found a special love for birds later in life. There are countless species around the world, each with its own behavior, physique, and look. I am my most patient, content, and serene self when taking photos of these incredible creatures.
There is no rush quite like capturing that perfect moment. A bird with a fish its beak. A sunrise over the Sahara. A monkey sticking out its tongue. These moments are what I live for as a photographer. Yet, while such moments are perhaps the most exhilarating to capture, much of the fun also lies in bringing beauty to everyday things like a person lost in thought or a duck taking flight. Pressing pause and capturing a single moment in time, whether incredible or routine, is what drives my pursuit of the next perfect photo.
Capturing moments. That’s what photography is for me.
